Stop counting the days until Christmas—make them count
Here are 5 tips to smoothly change your life
Summer holidays are over, and many of us are already back at work. Yet, if you listen carefully, there's a common thought floating around:
👉 "When's the next break?"
And the answer is obvious: Christmas 🎅.
That tiny red circle on the calendar becomes the next thing to look forward to.
But what if, instead of just waiting for December, you actually used these months to make your daily life more meaningful?
Here are 5 ideas that can help you get there 👇
1️⃣ Learn something that fits in 4 months
Pick a skill you can realistically develop before Christmas. It doesn't have to be something enormous like learning a programming language or becoming a sports champion—just something you can commit to with a reasonable amount of time.
For example, you could 👉
Learn 50 phrases in a new language and use them in a Christmas dinner toast
Take an online Excel course and finally master PivotTables
Try a photography challenge: one photo a day until December 24th
2️⃣ Do one thing you enjoy every day
Not just as a way to "fill time" before bed, but as a ritual that gives flavor to your day. Maybe you can replace that show you watch passively with one of these 👉
Cook a new recipe once a week
Read 10 pages of that book you keep postponing
Take your coffee outside, even if just for 5 minutes
3️⃣ Move at least 10 minutes a day
Sounds too easy? That's the point. It's short enough to fit any schedule. For some people, committing to an hour at the gym seems impossible. The trick is to start with a small step like 👉
Walking one metro stop earlier instead of waiting for the bus.
Doing a quick YouTube stretch session before your morning shower.
Putting music on and dancing in your living room (nobody's watching 💃)
Okay, the last one might sound silly, but even the thought makes me smile
4️⃣ Start thinking about your finances
This might sound boring at first glance. But I'm sure someone has mentioned its importance to you before.
You don't need fancy methods or complex spreadsheets—just choose an approach that works for you.
Who knows? You might discover the perfect system to start fresh with in 2026. You could 👉
Use a simple app like Money Manager to log expenses
Try the "envelope method" with 3 envelopes: essentials, fun, savings
List your daily expenses in a notebook to get a clear picture of your monthly spending habits
5️⃣ Take time for yourself every week
Make regular time for yourself. Most people understand that spending time with others is important, but many overlook the value of solitude. Recognizing its importance is the first step. The second? Setting aside dedicated time for yourself between now and Christmas.
Maybe you could:
Reserve 1 hour on Sunday morning just for you (book, run, or silence)
Block a recurring "Do Not Disturb" slot in your calendar
Go to a café alone and write your thoughts—no phone allowed
🎄 Wrap-up
These are just my personal ideas—feel free to take, adapt, or ignore them.
But if even one of them helps you get to Christmas feeling better than today, I'd be more than happy.
👉 Which one will you try first?
